Samson LeBeau Kpadenou for State House District 87
I, Samson LeBeau Kpadenou, am running to represent Florida’s 87th legislative district as a member of the Green Party.
I am a life-long restaurant worker and native of Michigan. I have lived in Florida for 11 years.
Because of gerrymandering, big money influence and the Two Party Trap, this will be the first election for state rep here since the district was created in 2010! Like so many other districts in Palm Beach County and Florida, the people have not ever been given a chance to decide who will write their laws in Tallahassee.
We see the results all around us. Our laws are written by a wealthy doner class and rubber-stamped by our politicians. Corruption runs rampant as legislators introduce laws that directly line their own pockets. Meanwhile, our infrastructure is crumbling, our cities are being swallowed by the sea with no aid from the state. Worker rights are attacked, federal police officers are demanding to see our papers and wealth inequality keeps going up and up and up.
My several trips to Tallahassee this year made it very clear to me: most of our legislators do not care about our needs or concerns because they know they will not have to answer to us in an election. I realized that this must change. So I decided to be that change.
As a Green Party candidate, I am pledged to take no money from large corporations or corporate PACs while facing off against a big money incumbent. Your donation is crucial to building a campaign to make sure voters know they have a progressive, working class choice for their representative.
