“I stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela!” says Robin Harris, co-chair of the Green Party of Florida, in response to the U.S. government’s latest maneuvers to depose the democratically elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and bring in a right-wing regime that would hand over that country’s mineral wealth to the powerful oligarchs that are still a dangerous force in that country under siege.
“The Green Party of Florida rallies strongly against imperialism, capitalism and the fascist tactics that the U.S and Juan Guaidó, head of the U.S.-backed opposition, have wielded against this country,” Harris continues. “We also denounce Donald Trump’s affirmation of Juan Guaidó as president. It violates all democratic process and is a total violation of human rights.”
Years of sabotage and economic warfare.
Harris is joined by Jill Stein, the Green Party’s presidential candidate in 2012 and 2016, and her 2016 running mate Ajamu Baraka, head of the Black Alliance for Peace.
From Green Party of Florida Co-Chair Robin Harris:
Adam Peck, editor of ThinkProgress, obviously doesn’t accept that the duopoly system has gone into self-destruct mode, nor that the Democratic Party has abandoned all pretense at being a force for progress. Instead he blames its woes on Jill Stein and the Green Party. His ThinkProgress article of December 22 begins:
“The extent of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election is well-documented and yet still not fully understood. Russian agents were responsible for stealing and releasing emails from the Democratic National Committee. Russia used Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms to spread disinformation and sow discord among the American public. This was done to benefit then-candidate Donald Trump.”
The Pinellas County Green Party fully supports brave McDonald’s employee, Yasmine James in the face of her being assaulted on January 1st by a violently racist customer, Daniel Taylor. While Ms. James admirably defended herself during the assault, other McDonald’s employees initially stood idly by before finally pulling her away from her attacker. They then proceeded to take the attacker’s order as though nothing had happened. McDonald’s didn’t contact the police about the assault against Ms. James or another co-worker, Tateona Bell, who had been kicked in the stomach as he left the establishment. Ms. James was left to contact law enforcement on her own and the police only became involved after Taylor himself made a false report of being robbed by African Americans and was recognized as Ms. James’ attacker from a surveillance video.
