Building Today’s Party for Tomorrow’s World!

The Green Party of FL will be holding its 2014 Annual General Membership Meeting in Orlando, Florida on Fri, Sat & Sun, June 6, 7 & 8. (See the AGENDA here) Friday and Saturday will be at the Quaker Meeting House east of Highland Ave. and Sunday’s session (See Offices and Candidates for Sunday’s ELECTIONS here) will convene at the nearby Latino Leadership.

Local affiliates will share ideas for how they’ll be relating to their communities, expanding their membership, building their organizational capacity, and gearing up to support the GPFL standard bearer for the 2016 presidential race.

We’ll also hear from our Green candidates running for office, and currently serving, in FL. And we’ll take a look at the hot issues in Florida, with a special presentation on public banking.

So now I’m a Commissioner …

So somebody asked me, “Bill, what’s it feel like, now that you’re actually serving on an official county committee?”

Good question, and I hope my answer can encourage others to do the same, become a small but real part of our local government. I really hope to see other Greens get onto committees in their counties, fire districts, cities, etc. If we can show our commitment on citizen advisory committees, maybe the public will trust us more when our members run for elected offices.

Good question, and I hope my answer can encourage others to do the same, become a small but real part of our local government.  First, it wasn’t my first time, since I had served as a public member on two committees back in the 1990s, when I lived in Osceola County.  In those days, I was a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.  But I found the dye was not very good, so I finally gave up on the Democrats.

Living in a Green Party Economy

Ask yourself the following question. How do we get from an unjust, broken down social–economic system to a Green Party world, where the Green Party’s 10 key values become the norm? The solution is that our government needs to take back the power to issue money and begin to gradually issue debt free money.
