Senator Nelson, Stand up and protect Florida from fracked gas Sabal Trail Pipeline

Florida is in need of clean energy and jobs. We need you to protect Florida, not FPL.

Dear Senator Nelson,

Floridians have great concerns about the Sabal Trail pipeline being constructed through Florida. Representatives from several organizations visited your office on December 29th to hand-deliver over 95,000 signed petitions asking you to stand up to protect Florida from the Sabal Trail Pipeline. We visit your offices, hold rallies, make calls, but hear no word.

As this pipeline is nearing completion, we are distressed that you as our representative have not responded, nor taken a stand in opposition to this fracked gas pipeline project that serves the financial interests of its investor companies, NextEra, Duke, and Spectra, and the countries who will receive the exported fuel, but is already devastating to Florida’s delicate karst geology, accelerates fracking elsewhere with all the implicit and associated hazards, has inappropriately taken homes and property by eminent domain, threatens our aquifer and water supply with contamination and damage to its casing, is an explosive hazard to our communities, and undermines our future with faster more certain climate change.
